# How to Test Your URLgenius Link Before Sending It to Customers

## A quick pre-launch checklist to catch issues before your campaign goes live.

Before sharing a link in a campaign, email, or social post, it's worth taking a few minutes to test it so you can catch issues early. A URLgenius link has two jobs: opening the app for users who have it installed, and sending everyone else to a fallback destination. Here's how to confirm both work.

1. **Test on a device with the app installed.** Copy your link, open it on a phone or tablet with the target app installed, and confirm it opens to the right destination (product page, campaign landing page, etc.). Tip: paste the link into your SMS or notes app rather than a browser — some apps intercept links differently depending on where you tap them.
2. **Test on a device without the app installed.** Either uninstall the app temporarily or use a device that doesn't have it, then confirm you land on the correct fallback (app store, website, etc.).
3. **Test on both iOS and Android** if your campaign targets both — link behavior can differ by platform.
4. **Test from the same surface your customers will tap it from** — email, SMS, social media, or QR code — since where someone taps matters.
5. **Check your analytics** after testing to confirm the clicks registered correctly. Note the timestamp of your test clicks (or use the date filter) so they don't skew your campaign data later.

**Still having trouble?** Contact [support@urlgenius.com](mailto:support@urlgenius.com) with the link you're testing, your device, and a description of what's happening — a screenshot or screen recording helps.
