# Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Your Account

## How to add your phone number and verify your account, including international formats.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your URLgenius account by requiring a text-message code in addition to your password. Here's how to set it up.

1. Log into your [urlgeni.us](http://urlgeni.us) account. If 2FA isn't set up yet, you'll be prompted to enter your phone number.
2. Enter your phone number in the correct format: 
     - **US numbers:** standard 10-digit format, e.g., `999-555-5555`
     - **Non-US numbers:** include the country code, e.g., a UK number would be `+447812011234` (Germany's country code is `+49`, so a German number would look like `+49...`)
3. On the next page, enter the 2FA code sent to you by text message.
4. If you entered the wrong number and need it reset, contact support at [service@urlgenius.com](mailto:service@urlgenius.com) to have your 2FA number reset.
